#122 - The Sons of Elohiim

Elohiim flapped and stumbled through the darkness of Ulgu. He knew that in his absence, the King of Thorns would impose his will over the Lost Thorns. And he knew that by now, the Brotherhood of Mannfred would have sent their agent Khammron to track him down. But he was determined to to achieve his quest alone.

Nagash himself had sent Elohiim a vision and he had scrawled his hope upon the highest tower of the ruins of Barfunweltz Cathedral:

In Ulgu I shall find my Son
Calyx V

His son, born of blood, once called Gulaab Kaphool, whom Nagash sundered into five soul-shards: One fifth endured as the wight King of Thorns, the remainder Elohiim had made the Soulblight Paladin. Later, this vampire's essence was then further split: the False Messiah, and the False Apostle, who in turn divided into the Pontifex Surrexit and the Empty Hearse. Thus did Elohiim consider himself the primogenitor of not one, but of five beings.

Ancient legend told that these five, known as the Cinquefoil, would one day be reunited. And this, Elohiim believed, was his mission from Nagash. Yet the fifth being had ever eluded him.

For the fifth of Gulaab Kaphool which had been devoted to Sigmar had escaped Nagash's grasp. Rumours abounded that Sigmar had snatched it away and kept it safe for an Age, eventually reworking it upon his Anvil of Apotheosis to create the Lord-Exorcist known as Calyx the Vengeful. Elohiim had no reason to doubt these rumours, but all reports about Calyx had ceased a few years ago.

Surely this was the meaning of Nagash's message regarding Calyx V: Whether the 'V' stood for 'Vengeful' or referred to the missing '5th' soul-shard, this elusive being was surely here in Ulgu.

And Elohiim, Primogenitor of the Cinquefoil would find him.

In the darkness, Elohiim sensed the Ossiarch Bone Reapers before he saw them. They appeared to be waiting for him - a perfectly ranked-up unit of Mortek Guard accompanied by a lumbering Gothizzar Harvester.

"You are Elohiim, Warden of Gulaab. We are the Tithe-Reaper Echelon of the Hieratic Magistracy of the Revenant Chancellor. We have been expecting you. You will come with us."

The Mortek Guard leader was as arrogant and self-assured as any of Nagash's tax-collecters. Elohiim bridled but did not react - for it seemed he may finally have found his quarry...

The Taxmen of the Hieratic Magistracy of the Revenant Chancellor

I fancied a new project, and thought it might be fun to complete the Death faction 'set' by collecting a few Ossiarch Bonereaper models, starting with the Tithe-Reaper Echelon for Spearhead. It also gave me a great idea for my Cinquefoil narrative...
