#16a Battle II - A Feast of Lead
My second game of Age of Sigmar and it's the first round of a tournament!? Well, it's one way to learn...
The Raptured Court of the Sanguine Rose have started their great crusade to share the Messianic Banquet. First to resist their evangelistic zeal is a force from Greywater Fastness, City of Sigmar.

The Seraph Susath's chiropteran ears had heard the prayer of the Archbishop, whose supplication had risen up from the Charnel Pulpit. He circled on membranous wings, and prepared to descend onto the battlefield.
The infidel army was cowering in a small group, gathered around a large metal object and each grasping other metal objects of various sizes, all shaped like the shaft of a thigh bone. What strange talismans these heathens put their trust in! Their resistance to the truth of the False Messiah was sure to be short lived!
Across the broken ground, the Raptured Court was gathered beside the False Messiah himself. Then, at their King's command, the faithful surged towards the foe at breakneck speed. Even as the Seraph alighted behind them, he saw a host of his angelic minions land on the flank of the human force, singing the Messiah's praise.
Suddenly, there erupted from the enemy formation a deafening roar and a massive cloud of acrid smoke. A sound like a thousand skulls cracking, but so much louder! The Seraph flinched in pain at the assault on his preter-sensitive ears. What was this heresy? When the smoke cleared, the False Messiah was gone! As was one of the angels, many believers and even the Bishop appeared injured!
Such hubris! Such blasphemy must be punished! But before the Raptured Court could even resume their charge, the same roar erupted again. This time when the smoke dissipated the Seraph was appalled to see nought but a handful of the faithful remained; all others were vanquished.
But his heart leapt with faith and hope and joy as he beheld the blessed remnant throw themselves at the enemy against all the odds. He followed after them but before the faithful few even reached their opponents, they too were cast down by strange fire from the metal sticks.
The Seraph Susath knew that this was the moment for which he had been called. This was his test, his mission. Soaring through the smoke he descended upon the humans as an angel of death. At the last moment, they raised their strange devices and fired.

The giant bat creature crumpled in the air and slammed into the hedge in front of the handgunners.
"I think that was the last one sir!" called the sergeant.
"Good hunting chaps!" replied the general from his steam tank. "Everyone alright? Jolly good! Back home to Greywater. Extra rations of beer and sausages!"
