#125 - Of Death and Taxes

There has been a real surge of enthusiasm for AoS Spearhead at my local gaming group so we're running a little league for about half a dozen players, most of whom play with a couple of different Spearheads. I've been using my Nighthaunt Slasher Host and my new Mortisan Elite force. The Nighthaunt are currently undefeated at the top of the league, but the Mortisans had their first loss (16:18 to Yndrasta) last night. It's a lot of fun, and pleasingly varied when playing with and against different Spearheads. As I've mostly been using my Sand & Bone set, I decided the Shyishian setting represents the ruins of Salas Nova, Lady Beauvoir's short-(un)lived vampire utopia.

Salas Nova had not seen so much death since the Bloody Pilgrims had originally infiltrated the Dawnbringer settlement. Now it had become a battleground for a hundred skirmishes as scouting forces converged there, apparently from across the Mortal Realms: Kharadrons, Seraphon and Stormcast sought to restore order where gargants, orruks and ogors brought only destruction. Meanwhile the Skaven revelled in the chaos. But this was the Realm of Death, and so the Lord of Bones had sent both the Procession of the Foolish Martyrs and the Hieratic Magistracy of the Revenant Chancellor to ensure he received his due in soul and bone.

The arrival of the HMRC in the vicinity of Barfunweltz heralds the determined interest of Nagash himself. Perhaps this is why its Soulblight Gravelords appear to be skulking out of sight, lest they personally draw the unwanted attention of their Overlord.
