The Black Marines of Barak Nar have been occupying portions of the skies above Barfunweltz for some time now, yet their presence has largely gone unnoticed by the local undead. Despite some altercations with Elohiim and the mordant Angelic Host of the False Messiah, the impenetrable mists of Barfun Moor have generally kept the sable-clad Overlords hidden from the sight of the ground-dwelling Soulblight Gravelords. Meanwhile, the combination of their specialised wargear and a protective alliance with the Gravewalkers seems to be an effective deterrent against the Procession of the Foolish Martyrs. But the sheer hubris of naming themselves ‘The Gheistbusters’ can surely not go overlooked…

| Aetheric Navigator Stantz |
It was Aetheric Nagivator Stantz who first discovered the rich seam of aether gold high above Barfunweltz when he was hired to map the region by the Anvils of the Heldenhammer defending nearby Glymmsforge. And he was glad that he did for it was the fiscal salvation of an otherwise disastrously unprofitable endeavour. Back in Barak Nar, Stantz founded a prospecting company in partnership with Commodore Venkman and Endrinmaster Spengler. Having gathered their expeditionary force, they immediately returned to Barfunweltz.

| Aether-Khemist Zeddemore |
Zeddemore the Aether-Khemist is the only member of the expedition with a genuine connection to Barfunweltz. According to his remarkable private collection of genealogical artefacts, he is descended from the Grungni-worshipping Duardin who, during the Age of Chaos, were members of the ancient kingdom of Gulaab Kaphool. This is not something he has shared with the rest of the expedition, simply because it bears no relevance to the prospecting business at hand.

The Houyagennerkorl is the magnificent black Ironclad under the command of Commodore Venkman, commander of the Grundstock company known as the Gheistbusters. Specially equipped by Spengler for combatting gheists and other undead, it is the true home of the Black Marines and each Thunderer and Sky Warden would not hesitate to protect it with their life. Houyagennerkorl is invariably escorted by the Gunhaulers known as Ectoships I and II.
But for how much longer will the self-styled Gheistbusters mine their aethergold unhindered? Strange patterns in the ripples of the Bloody Pilgrims' scrying pools appear to point to a fatal flaw in the Kharadons' technology...
