#63 The Black Marines of Barak-Nar
Some time ago, a company of Aetheric Navigators from the Nav-League of Barak-Nar were commissioned by the Anvils of the Heldenhammer to create a map of Barfunweltz. The task proved extremely challenging, partly due to the constantly shifting geography of the region, but also because of continual harassment by the Nighthaunt spirits of the Procession of the Foolish Martyrs. However, while their cartographic endeavours might not have proved particularly cost-effective, the duardin did discover a rich stream of aether-gold high above Barfunweltz. Sensing a lucrative business opportunity, Chief Navigator Stantz shrewdly neglected to include this particular feature on the maps he sold to the Gravewalkers.
Upon his return to Barak-Nar, Stantz quickly set about establishing a company with a view to returning to Barfunweltz and exploiting this newly-discovered Shyishian aether-gold stream. The greatest threat to his acquisition would be the significant challenge of defending his miners from the vicious phantoms, but he knew who he was going to call:
Stantz had previously worked on a prospecting project with an Endrinmaster named Spengler who was now enjoying a long term contract with the Grundcorps, developing specialist aethermatic equipment for dealing with non-physical entities. Spengler's new employer was the renowned Grundstock Commodore Venkman of the 'Black Marines', Barak-Nar's anti-Nighthaunt special forces. Venkman's company, known as the 'Gheist-busters', was founded soon after the Garaktormun* and are well-known for their swagger, even among the notoriously arrogant Grundcorps.

Thanks to the success of their previous partnership, Navigator Stantz easily persuaded Endrinmaster Spengler to invest in his venture. Spengler in turn approached Commodore Venkman to negotiate the engagement of a security escort of Black Marines. The Navigator, Endrineer and Commodore each understood that their own contribution was vital to the venture, and thus after protracted contract negotiations, the three became equal partners in the new syndicate.
Having also engaged the services of Spengler's assistant Melnitz as well as an Aether-Khemist called Zeddemore, they set a course for Barfunwletz on the Gheist-busters' flagship, the Houyagunnerkorl.
