At the height of the success of The Society of the Sanguine Rose, Barfunweltz Cathedral and cemetery were at its epicentre. For it was here that most members of the cult found their final resting places in anticipation of the sweet relief of eternal oblivion. But their faith was misguided for death was not the end for them.

Since the Necroquake swept through the Realm of Shyish, millions of souls have been awakened and the members of the Society are among those who do not rest easy in their graves. For in death they finally discovered their tragic error: that The Apostle had deceived them and his teachings were lies. They had devoted their lives – and in many cases suffered horrible deaths – for a deceit; a deceit profoundly offensive to the Supreme Lord of the Undead himself.

In his ruthless justice, Nagash condemned each member of the Society to an eternity befitting the nature of their foolish beliefs and instructed Lady Olynder to gather them as 'The Procession of the Foolish Martyrs.' And so, in death, faithful believers continue to follow 'The False Apostle' suffering the curse of eternal regret as they ceaselessly perpetuate their tragic delusion.
