#29e The Ballad of Lord Voltaire: Epilogue

PROLOGUE - THE LADY’S ERRAND

PART I - ON BARFUN MOOR

PART II - GLADIATOR

PART III - IN THE HALL OF THE BLISTERSKIN

EPILOGUE - TIDINGS TO BARFUNWELTZ

Foolish Voltaire’s evils three.
His artless evils three:
He swelled the ranks of the Raptured Court,
Provoked the wrath of a Khornate Lord,
And their course did not foresee!

“So thou didst find a Blisterskin.”
The Lady Beauvoir sneered at him,
“And didst decide to bring him back
To Barfunweltz?”

“Why yes my Lady,” Voltaire smiled,
“For I am sure he will renew
His ancient enmity against
The Raptured Court.”

“You sought an ally from among
Abhorrent courts of flesh-eaters?
No Soulblight vampire ever
Sups with them!”

“Nay, I devised a cunning plan
To kindle strife and cause a war
And thus to weaken all who stand
To thwart us!”

“You thought this Blisterskin would seek
Revenge upon his one-time foe
And bring the False Messiah to
His downfall?”

“Indeed he shall, I do declare,
For he has brought a mighty host
Of mordants from his putrid lair
To aid him.”

“You fool, your plans have come to nought!
These two abhorrents met last night:
Delusions merged and they became
As brothers!”

Lord Voltaire’s shock was plain to see:
His plans awry, his Lady vexed.
The Blisterskin had joined
The Raptured Court!

And unbeknownst to him or her,
In seething rage Mosh’eh had found
The bestigor who knew the way
To Barfunweltz...

Foolish Voltaire’s evils three.
His artless evils three:
He swelled the ranks of the Raptured Court,
Provoked the wrath of a Khornate Lord,
And their course did not foresee!
