#13a Battle I - The Vanquishing of the Gravewalkers
This was the first ever proper game of Age of Sigmar for both me and Owen, and socially distanced too. We probably forgot a lot of rules and made plenty of mistakes, but we had a great time!

1250 points; The Blades Edge
The moment the False Messiah revealed himself in his glory, his ancient enemy appeared. He knew the Gravewalkers' purpose: to continue the Great Tribulation which had once brought him down and then decimated his followers. Calling his worshippers to follow and summoning his angels to assist, the False Messiah made straight for the Lord Celestant at whose hands he had once been so humiliated. This was the Day of his Coming and he would not be thwarted.
Lord Celestant Ven Denst gathered up his reigns, raised his tempestos hammer and squeezed his mount’s flanks. “He’s not the Messiah,” he declared, “he’s a very –” But his words were drowned by the lightening roar of his dracoth as it surged towards the Abhorrent general. Despite his charge, supported by his faithful Liberators, Thaddeon struggled to penetrate the magical energies protecting the ghoul king. Too late, he realised how much he had underestimated this foul creature as the massive terrorgheist snapped its mighty jaws and bit the Lord Celestant’s head clean off. With a blinding flash of lightening, the False Messiah’s nemesis was returned to the Anvil of Apotheosis to be reforged. Their blood feud was far from over.
Meanwhile, the congregation of the Raptured court charged into Lord Arcanum Neras Aetherflare and the Decimators who had suddenly appeared from the heavens. Despite the bravery and prowess of the Stormcast warriors they were swamped by the massive hoard of ghouls and eventually even Neras himself was dragged down, but not without slaying many foes.
The angelic crypt flayers who had answered their apostle’s call were driven back by Sequitors and Lord Castellant Tarnos Greybound. Yet they were avenged by the Seraph 'Susath' who laid the Sequitors low before they could even raise a hand against him. Tarnos and his wolf Thorn could only look on in horror as the Varghulf devoured their corpses.
The Baby-Eating Bishop of Barfunweltz, understanding that this was his Messiah’s day and that all the glory must go to him, allowed the battle to progress without much interference on his part. Nonetheless, the Abhorrent Archregent’s presence spurred on the faithful and inspired them to fight for Barfunweltz no matter the power of their foes.
Desperate to avenge their fallen Lord, Davor Greyguard and his Evocators threw themselves at the False Apostle.
But the Ghoul King and his terrorgheist were utterly triumphant, even as he directed and guided his devoted disciples to once again secure Barfunweltz Cemetery as the domain of The Raptured Court of the Sanguine Rose. Truly, this was the Day of the False Messiah!
At the end of turn 3, Owen conceded. Despite being equal on victory points, the Anvils of the Heldenhammer only had two models remaining and their destruction was inevitable.
