#135 Battle XLI - Battles and Rumours of Battles

Lord Tzuunak furrowed his pale brow as he absentmindedly chewed the bat's head. What in the realms was the Baby-Eating Bishop of Barfunweltz up to - or rather, what did he think he was up to? Like most Soulblights, Tzuunak found Abhorrent vampires intensely irritating.

The Bishop had arrived at the Ravaged Coast with a large congregation of crypt ghouls and appeared to be attempting to establish the military credentials of 'the Monarch of the Crimson Bloom', an Abhorrent Archregent. By all accounts this had not started well when said Archregent had thrown himself into combat with Aurelius Lightbringer of the Heralds of Yndrasta only to be cut down in short order! Nonetheless, the sheer number of ghouls had eventually overwhelmed the Stormcast Eternals. After the battle the Flesh-Eaters had been seen cavorting around the battlefield juggling lumps of precious emberstone.

Tzuunak was aware of numerous other altercations too. There had been little news of Dragonbeard's Expedition, but the Skaven factions had been very active and were becoming a particular worry. Hopefully they would again turn on each other and helpfully thin down their own numbers! A new threat was developing too: a reptilian menagerie of Seraphon. It had been a while since Lord Tzuunack had tasted lizardman blood...

Monarch of the Crimson Bloom

I decided to enter another army into our Ravaged Coast campaign so that I could provide some more even match-ups for some of the players who haven't been able to play as many games. Flesh-Eater Courts are so much fun and so full of character - whether it's desperately hoping they cling onto a helpful delusion, or rolling 91 dice for an attack (it could have been 121!), or just playing 'in character' and massively over-estimating my unit's capabilities! And fighting elite Stormcast with a puny hoard of ghouls is particularly fun because it makes for such a swingy game.

Anyway, it was a low scoring win in the end with a really good haul of six emberstone so I've immediately recruited one of my favourite kit-bashed models as an Anvil of Apotheosis hero...
